Project MA to Release First Single!

Here Comes Everybody alumnus Adam Fagelson (1995-96) has teamed up with Michael to write a big ol’ batch of brand new songs, two of which should be released soon as the first single under the moniker Project MA.

The time-line is fuzzy at this point—but the first two songs, “Where is There” and “Window Dressing,” are nearly in the mixing and mastering phase—which could mean that the single reveal could happen as early as October or November!

What kind of thing are Adam and Michael doing, you might be asking? It’s been 27+ years since they played together last in Here Comes Everybody. During that era they collaborated together on two songs for 1997’s Once More With Feeling, and wrote a handful of other tunes that were performed, but never recorded formally. Reuniting this many years later, realizing that the technology now allows cross-continental collaboration (Michael lives in Oregon, Adam in Vermont), the duo seems to have not skipped a beat. Over the years their tastes have changed, or (more accurately) broadened, but they continue to do what they’re pretty good at: active, funky, infectious grooves on the bass and drums, unusual arrangements, some odd time signatures, some keyboard embellishments, a bit of a progressive leaning, but tuneful, memorable melodies with oddball, philosophical, quirky lyrics and Michael’s unique vocal delivery.

Where’s René? She’ll make some guest appearances on keyboards and vocals on a few songs for the album, no doubt. And Willow Bacon, Michael’s vocal bandmate in the cover band The Nu Wavers, has been snagged for some additional background vocals. Needless to say, but we will say it anyway, Adam and Michael are super happy to be making music together again and super excited to share Project MA with the world.
