Thirteen (CD)

13 years of Here Comes Everybody seemed like an important milestone, a reason to celebrate. Mostly, because everything the band had recorded pre-”Once More With Feeling” had been released only on cassette and couldn’t reach, perhaps, the audience that, over the last decade, had converted their entire music collection to compact disc. So a retrospective seemed like a good idea. Leading off with three 1999 reinterpretations of some HCE favorites, the rest of this generously appointed collection features the best tunes from the first 13 years of cassette releases.

What’s most interesting here, perhaps, are the tunes that would not make it onto “Everything Is Here: 1986-1992.” Beside the three reinterpretations, there are tracks here from the ever-so grungy mid 90’s albums “Squish” and “Hump Day.” At least for now, this the only way to hear these tunes in your collection.
